Source: Iva Lewis Obituary Scrapbook

Martha, wife of Madison Commons of near Tangier died Monday night at 10 o’clock in the insane hospital at Indianapolis. She had been commited to the assylum for eleven year and six months. The remains were brought to Bloomingdale and hauled to Tangier by undertaker C. M. Spencer when funeral services were held yesterday at 10 o’clock by Rev. Zimr Maris of Rockville. Mrs. Commons was about fifty years of age and leaves besides her husband an only daughter to mourn her sad loss. She was a kind mother and her sad misfortune of her mental condition saddened the hearts of all. On Monday a telegraph message was sent to her husband, but the message did not reach him in time for him to come from his work and make the evening train. He took the midnight train, but arrived too late. – jlr
